Let me first say It's been a while, I know this but I want to give you some reassurance as to why its been a while but I am back and bigger and better things are coming!
I know it's been a while, and I truly appreciate your patience and support during this hiatus. The past few years have been a transformative journey, and I'm excited to share the incredible changes happening at Jina LaFary Photography (JLP).
The path of a photographer is often filled with unexpected twists and turns. Some deviations are intentional, guiding us to growth and self-discovery, while others are unexpected challenges that test our resilience. In my case, it was a bit of both.
For seven years, I diligently followed trends, scoured for epic locations, and tried to stay ahead in the ever-evolving world of photography. Then came 2020 – a year of reflection forced upon us by the global pandemic. It became a turning point for me, a chance to reevaluate and rediscover the essence of my passion.
The constant chase, the pressure to stay relevant, and the imposter syndrome took a toll on my mental health. I found myself on a rollercoaster of emotions, fluctuating between praising my growth and feeling like I was the worst at what I do. It was time for a change.
In the midst of the chaos, I decided to step off the rollercoaster and revisit why I chose photography as my career. I craved stillness amidst the chaos of chasing after clients, trends, and perfect locations. This led me to fulfill a long-held dream – owning a studio. A space where creativity could flow organically without the need to chase it. The doors of my studio opened in June 2020, marking a new chapter in my career.
The subsequent years, 2020 to 2022, were monumental for JLP. Opening a studio during a pandemic presented challenges, but it also brought unprecedented growth. As 2023 rolled in, I shifted my focus to things that truly fed my soul, bidding farewell to the comparison game.
Now, in 2024, I'm overjoyed to announce that JLP has expanded its team, allowing me to rekindle my passion for wedding photography. The thrill of capturing love stories has always held a special place in my heart, and I'm diving headfirst into this renewed passion.
One recent adventure had me collaborating with Southern Bride Magazine and some incredibly talented designers. The experience not only broadened my artistic horizons but also resulted in new friendships and exciting business opportunities.
As we venture into this new phase of JLP, I want to express my gratitude for your unwavering support. Keep an eye out for the upcoming blog posts, where I'll share more about the behind-the-scenes of my journey and the exciting projects in the pipeline.
Remember, as someone once told me, when you get complacent, that's when opportunities arise to take you places you never dreamed of. So, here's to going higher together!
With gratitude and excitement,
Jina 💛
